What matters in a college ERP
Academic structure - departments, programmes, semesters, electives, subject registration per student.
Internal assessment - configurable components and weightings, bulk marks entry, automatic computation, controlled publishing.
Subject-wise attendance - per lecture, per subject, with the shortage percentages your university rules define.
Examination workflow - hall tickets, seating, marks, results, and whatever your affiliating university requires.
Fee management across streams - tuition, hostel, transport, exam and lab fees, ideally in one ledger with online payment.
Campus services - hostel allocation and mess, transport routes, library.
Student self-service - attendance, results, fee dues, timetable and certificate requests without queueing at the office.
Compliance reporting - AISHE, NAAC/NBA data, university returns. Ask specifically how each is produced.
The options
MasterSoft - long-established in Indian higher education, deep on examination and university-affiliation workflows, widely used by affiliated colleges. Strong where university compliance is the dominant requirement. Implementation is typically a project, not a signup.
Camu - modern campus platform with good mobile and engagement features, used across a range of institutions.
Classe365 - global student information system covering schools, colleges and training centres. Flexible and modern; less specialised in Indian university-affiliation specifics.
EduFox - positions specifically for Indian colleges including engineering, medical, management and degree institutions.
Chanakya ERP - widely used across Indian schools and colleges, focused on automating routine administration.
Entab, Fedena and similar - primarily school-oriented. Fedena's modular approach stretches further than most, but verify the elective and semester handling before assuming fit.
VegaEdu - cloud ERP with a built-in LMS, covering departments and semesters, internal assessment, subject attendance, fees with online payment, hostel, transport with live GPS bus tracking, library and reporting, native mobile apps for students and parents, and self-serve signup with a 14-day free trial.
Where we are not the best answer. If your primary requirement is deep affiliating-university examination workflow - complex hall-ticket generation, university-prescribed result processing, decades of accumulated compliance edge cases - MasterSoft and similar specialists have been solving that far longer than we have. We are the stronger fit for colleges that want modern cloud software with learning management built in, and that value starting immediately over a long implementation.
Buying: the questions that separate vendors
- Show me two students in one semester with different electives, then subject-wise attendance for each
- How is internal assessment configured? Components, weightings, who can publish
- What exactly does AISHE/NAAC reporting produce? A report, or a data export somebody formats by hand?
- Can I trial it myself, or is a sales call mandatory?
- What is the implementation timeline and what does it cost separately?
- If we leave, what do we get? Full export of student, academic and fee data, in what format?
- Is the LMS included or a separate product?
Question 4 tells you more than the feature list. A vendor confident in the product lets you try it.
